Whether funds that are held by department for rehabilitation of mines will be used to pay for acid mine drainage remediation efforts, if not, why not, if so, what are the relevant details?
Reply
No, funds held by the Department of Mineral Resources for rehabilitation purposes are not used to pay for acid mine drainage remediation efforts. The funds are held on behalf of mine owners who are liable for negative environmental impacts caused by their prospecting and mining operations.
